Goodie MOb's Cee-Lo

In addition to being a member of the rap group

COLOR="#003163">Goodie MOb,

COLOR="#003163">Cee-Lo also has appeared on

albums by Carlos

Santana and

COLOR="#003163">Outkast.

Cee-Lo was born Carlito Green on May 30, 1975, in Georgia. The

younger of two children born to Southern Baptist ministers, he was

taught to sing at an early age.

In 1994, Cee-Lo and three friends,

COLOR="#003163">T-Mo,

COLOR="#003163">Khujo and

COLOR="#003163">Big Gipp, formed Goodie MOb, an

acronym for "the good die mostly over bull." Their first appearance

on record was in 1994, rapping with fellow hip-hoppers

COLOR="#003163">OutKast.

Goodie MOb eventually signed to LaFace Records, who issued the

group's debut LP, Soul Food, in 1995. The album featured

danceable rap-soul tracks such as "Sesame Street" and the #1 hit,

"Cell Therapy."

In 1997, the group toured with the

COLOR="#003163">Fugees and the

COLOR="#003163">Roots. Their 1998 album Still

Standing was executive-produced by LaFace Records' co-

presidents Antonio "L.A."

Reid and Kenneth

"Babyface" Edmonds. Sharing the executive producer

credit was Organized

Noize, who have worked with OutKast,

COLOR="#003163">TLC and

COLOR="#003163">En Vogue.

Co-producers on Still Standing included T-Mo, Cee-Lo,

Craig Love and

Cypress Hill's

DJ Muggs. The album

features the single "They Don't Dance No Mo'" (

_No_Mo'.ram">RealAudio excerpt), "Greeny Green," "Fly

Away" and "Beautiful Skin."

Late last year Goodie MOb released World Party, featuring

"Chain Swang" (

">RealAudio excerpt) and "Get Rich to This." The album,

produced by Goodie MOb, Dallas

Austin, Deric

Angelettie and Organized Noize, also includes an

appearance by TLC on "What It Ain't (Ghetto) Enuff."

Last year also saw Cee-Lo involved in two musical collaborations.

Goodie MOb worked with OutKast to contribute "Sole Sunday" to

the soundtrack of the Oliver Stone football movie "Any Given

Sunday." Cee-Lo, who also calls himself Sugar Baby Lo, recorded

"Do You Like the Way" with Lauryn

Hill for Santana's Grammy-winning album,

Supernatural.

Other Cee-Lo collaborations have included

COLOR="#003163">Puff Daddy and

COLOR="#003163">Black Rob.

The rapper is reportedly planning to launch an acting career, as well as

a line of women's clothing.
