B.T. Express' Barbara Joyce Lomas

Barbara Joyce Lomas was a singer in the '70s funk-disco troupe B.T. Express.

Born on May 19, 1952, Lomas formed the funky King Davis House Rockers in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1972. The band also included bassist/organist Louis Risbrook; his saxophonist/singer brother, Bill Risbrook; saxophonist Carlos Ward; guitarist/singer Richard Thompson (not to be confused with the British rocker); percussionist Dennis Rowe; and drummer Terrell Woods.

The group also was known as the Madison Street Express and the Brothers Trucking, before merging the monikers to become B.T. Express. They struck gold twice early in their career, with "Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)" in 1974 and "Express" (RealAudio excerpt) in 1975, each of which topped 1 million copies.

B.T. Express' follow-ups weren't so successful, and they disbanded after many personnel changes.
