De La Soul, Common, Pharoahe Monch To Tour
Underground all-stars Pharoahe Monch, Common and Talib Kweli of Black Star will join comebackers De la Soul and Biz Markie on the 25-city Spitkicker summer tour through the U.S.
The dates will kick off with a June 30 show in San Francisco, and cross the country to New York, before heading south. The last two weeks of the tour, which include dates heading from Houston to Worcester, Mass., have yet to be confirmed.
Formerly of underground duo Organized Konfusion, Monch broke out last year with the successful single "Simon Says" (RealAudio excerpt), from his debut solo album, Internal Affairs.
Kweli will perform with DJ Hi-Tek, a frequent producer for artists with Rawkus Records. Chicago rapper Common, whose fourth album, Like Water for Chocolate — which features the single "The 6th Sense" (RealAudio excerpt) — came out at the end of March, will join the bill of progressive hip-hoppers.
Rap veterans Biz Markie and De la Soul, whose much-delayed comeback, Art Official Intelligence, is now scheduled for July release, will round out the lineup.
