Virgins, madonnas, goddesses, mothers and mermaids populate the Italian, French and Brazilian music performed by singer/percussionist Alessandra Belloni for this musical grab bag. Belloni takes off from the idea of women cured of the "spider's bite" of sexual repression thanks to the therapeutic power of music and dance. Problem is, most of her music, for all its cultural veracity, doesn't sound all that liberating, with more moaning than soaring overall.
