This Moroccan trio play the hypnotic music of the Gnawa brotherhood: a mixture of karkaba (metal castanets), sentir (a three-stringed bass oud), djembe and sabar drums, and wailing call-and-response vocals in Arabic. While the message is sometimes contemporary (equal rights and environmentalism, for example) the music is visceral, stark and timeless.
