Bush, Moby To Swing Through U.S. Campuses
British rockers Bush and techno-wiz Moby will storm across the country starting on March 23 as part of MTV's Campus Invasion 2000.
Beginning at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, the tour will bring the two acts to 27 U.S. colleges in the spring before concluding April 30 at California State University in Fresno, according to a spokesperson for Bush.
The British foursome first wowed U.S. audiences with its multiplatinum 1994 debut, Sixteen Stone, which yielded five successful singles, including "Comedown" and "Glycerine." In 1997, the band released the follow-up, Razorblade Suitcase, and contributed a remix of the song "Mouth" (RealAudio excerpt) to the soundtrack to "An American Werewolf in Paris."
Bush's third album, The Science of Things (1999), featured more of the electronic-spiced rock of "Mouth" on tracks such as "The Chemicals Between Us" (RealAudio excerpt). The current single, "Letting the Cables Sleep," is at #4 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart.
Moby (born Richard Melville Hall), who gained popularity as a DJ and remixer, released his major-label debut, Everything Is Wrong, in 1995. He took a dive into guitar-rock for 1997's Animal Rights before returning to his electronica roots for 1999's Play. The gold-selling album received two Grammy nods and included the songs "Bodyrock" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Porcelain" (RealAudio excerpt).
Moby plans to re-record and release the song "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" (RealAudio excerpt), with Elton John on vocals. Proceeds from the single will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
