This Week's Album Releases: Tha Eastsidaz, Tina Turner, Michael Penn
Hip-hop group Tha Eastsidaz, featuring Snoop Dogg, Tray Deee and Goldie Loc, will
release their debut album, Snoop Dogg Presents tha Eastsidaz,
on Tuesday (Feb. 1). Also due in stores this week are Tina Turner's
Twenty Four Seven, featuring the Bryan Adams collaboration
"Without You," and Michael Penn's MP4 (Days Since a Lost Time Accident),
featuring the songs "Perfect Candidate" and "Bucket Brigade."

Bernard Butler, Friends & Lovers (Creation/Columbia) —
Second solo release from former Suede guitarist marks return to riff-driven
rock. Butler covers new ground as a lyricist, opening up more than in
the past.
Dinosaur Jr., BBC in Session (Fuel 2000) — Live
recordings from influential noise-rock band. Includes "Budge," originally
from 1988 LP Bug, and acoustic version of "Get Me," from 1993's
Where You Been.
Dixie Dregs, California Screamin' (Zebra) — Live
album from reunited progressive-fusion quintet, led by guitarist Steve
Morse.
Tha Eastsidaz, Snoop Dogg Presents tha Eastsidaz (Dogghouse/TVT)
— Debut of rap group featuring artist formerly known as Snoop Doggy
Dogg along with Tray Deee and Goldie Loc. Album includes hit single
"G'd Up" (RealAudio
excerpt) and appearances from Kurupt, Suga Free and Xzibit.
Stan Getz Quartet With Chet Baker, Quintessence, Volume Two
(Concord Jazz) — More material from rare collaboration of bossa-nova
jazzman Getz and singer/trumpeter Baker, recorded in 1983.
Tracy Lawrence, Lessons Learned (Atlantic) — Sixth
studio album from hitmaking honky-tonk singer who won Academy of Country
Music's New Male Vocalist award in 1992. Includes single "Up All Night."
John Patitucci, Imprint (Concord Jazz) — Former
bassist for Chick Corea's Elektric Band combines Afro-Cuban rhythms and
improvisation on eclectic, post-bop record. Tracks include frenetic
"King Kong" and flowing ballad "Joan."
Michael Penn, MP4 (Days Since a Lost Time Accident)
(57/Epic) — Catchy, wall-of-sound pop with sharp, poetic lyrics
from singer/songwriter. Includes "Perfect Candidate," "Bucket Brigade"
and "Lucky One."
The Smugglers, Rosie (Lookout!) — Vancouver, British
Columbia, punk band's follow-up to 1997 Buddy Holly Convention
EP. Features "Kings of the Party" and "Coffee, Tea or Me?"
Tina Turner, Twenty Four Seven (Virgin) — Grammy-winning
R&B superstar's first release since 1996 album Wildest Dreams
includes "Without You," recorded with Bryan Adams.
Various artists, "Mambo Kings" soundtrack (Elektra) —
Cuban dance music from film directed by Arne Glimcher ("Just Cause").
Contributors include Linda Ronstadt ("Quiereme Mucho") and Tito Puente
("Para los Rumberos").
Young Bleed, My Own (Frontline/Priority) — Louisiana
rapper's second album, following up My Balls and My Word. Includes
