Ex–School Of Fish Frontman Dies
Guitarist and singer/songwriter Josh Clayton, former frontman for
pop-rockers School of Fish, died of cancer Jan. 19, less than a
month after he was diagnosed, the Los Angeles Times reported on
Thursday. Clayton was 32. Formerly known as Josh Clayton-Felt, he led
School of Fish — best known for the 1991 hit "Three Strange Days"
— from their formation, in 1989, until they disbanded, in 1994. He
played all the instruments on his 1996 solo debut, Inarticulate Nature
Boy, which featured the single "Window." He was dropped from A&M,
after the label was acquired by Universal Music Group, and later released
two albums on his own Talking Cloud Records: Josh Clayton ... Felt Like
Making a Live Record, taken from 1996 performances, and Beautiful
Nowhere (1999), which he sold at shows and through his Web site
(www.joshclayton.com). A third studio album was completed for A&M but
shelved after the merger. Clayton played guitar on singer/songwriter
Jewel's 1998 album, Spirit.
