Bomb Squad Called To Eagles Show
Eagles, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blondie, Wilco, Cowlily, Sting, No Doubt ...
A police bomb squad was called Friday (Dec. 31) to the Staples Center in
Los Angeles, where the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Linda
Ronstadt were ushering in the new year, after an arena employee
discovered a suspicious-looking box in a freight elevator. Three suites
were evacuated, but the package, which had "writing mentioning explosives,"
proved to be empty, Staples Center spokesperson Michael Roth said Monday.
The concert went on as planned. Following a countdown, Eagles singer/guitarist
Glenn Frey welcomed the New Year by playing "Auld Lang Syne" on
his guitar. The veteran country-rock band then moved into its 1978 B-side
"Funky New Year."
