DMX Among Mix Tape Winners

Tony Touch, DJ Clue also awarded at New York ceremony.

Tony Touch, DJ Clue and rapper DMX were among the winners at the Justo's Fourth Annual Mixtape Awards in New York on Tuesday (Dec. 21), according to a release from the awards' publicists. Touch, a member of famed b-boy collective the Rock Steady Crew, won for Best Freestyle on a Mixtape, while DMX, who released his third album, ... And Then There Was X, Tuesday (Dec. 21), won for Best Artist on a Mixtape. Clue, signed to Def Jam, won for Best Commercial Mixtape DJ, while Mister Cee, an underground fixture in New York, won for Best Mixtape DJ. Other winners included Doo Wop, Juice, the Baka Boys and Craig G. The awards honor club and radio DJs who compile hip-hop mix tapes, which have helped artists such as DMX and the Wu-Tang Clan establish their careers.
