Clapton, Lovin' Spoonful Make Rock Hall

Blues-rock singer/guitarists Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt,
singer/songwriter James Taylor, doo-wop group the Moonglows,
folk-rock band the Lovin' Spoonful and R&B band Earth, Wind &
Fire will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year,
the Hall's foundation announced on Tuesday (Dec. 7). Singers Nat King
Cole and Billie Holiday will be inducted as early influences,
and veteran record executive Clive Davis, currently chairman of Arista
Records, will enter as a non-performer. Clapton has been inducted twice
before, as a member of the Yardbirds and of Cream. He becomes
the Hall's first three-time inductee. The induction ceremony will be held
in New York on March 6.
