Smithereens singer Pat DiNizio plans to do a tour of fans' living rooms and back yards early next year. Traveling by train, the pop rocker will hit all 50 states, allowing the hosts of the shows to sell 100 tickets and keep 20 percent of the profits. "It's the most punk-rock idea I could think of," DiNizio said last week. The singer will be touring in support of the upcoming digital-download album Strangers on a Refrain, featuring songs he co-wrote and recorded with fans through his Psycholaborations website (www.psycholaborations.com). Each show will be about three hours, featuring songs from Strangers as well as Smithereens and solo material by request, he said. The Smithereens released God Save the Smithereens, their first album in five years, last week.
