The Corrs, B*Witched and other pop groups will
perform Abba songs for a British TV special celebrating the '70s
Swedish pop hitmakers. "Abbamania," which will also feature
Madness, Boyzone, Westlife, Martine
McCutcheon and Steps, will be taped Oct. 1 for airing Oct 24,
according to Madeleine Pallas of Granada Media, whose London Weekend
Television subsidiary will broadcast the show. There are also plans for
a CD version of the TV tribute, with profits going to the National
Foundation for Youth Music, which works to improve music education in UK
schools, Pallas said. Abba's hits included "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo,"
and "Fernando." The band broke up in 1982.
