Christina Aguilera Album To Debut At #1
If there was any remaining doubt that this is the year of the teen pop singer, former Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera's first album will debut at #1 this week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, crushing rap superstar Puff Daddy's Forever, which will debut at #2, according to sales figures released Wednesday (Sept. 1) by SoundScan. Christina Aguilera, which includes the smash single "Genie in a Bottle," sold 252,800 copies in the week ending Sunday, according to the sales tracking organization. The Backstreet Boys' Millennium, which was #1 last week and for most of the summer, will drop to #3. Also debuting this week: rapper Noreaga's Melvin Flynt — da Hustler (#9), hard rockers Sevendust's Home (#19), pop trio LFO's LFO (#21), industrial rockers Filter's Title of Record (#30) and Prince's The Vault ... Old Friends 4 Sale, a collection of previously unreleased tracks from 1985-94 (#85).
