The guitar that John Lennon played the day he met Paul McCartney is expected to fetch $160,000 when it's auctioned in London next month, according to news reports. Lennon — who partnered with McCartney in one of the most successful songwriting duos of all time — played the acoustic Gallotone Champion guitar in 1957 as a member of the Quarrymen, the band that evolved into the Beatles after McCartney joined. The instrument hits Sotheby's auction block Sept. 14.
