UPN's broadcast of the Source Hip-Hop Music Awards on Friday (Aug. 20) gave the network its top Friday ratings and its highest rating on any night since May 26, according to Nielsen Media Research. The ceremony, which was taped at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday (Aug. 18), was the first awards show devoted to hip-hop to air on network television. It featured performances by Sean "Puffy" Combs, Snoop Dogg, Master P and Lauryn Hill, while winners included DMX, Hill, OutKast and Busta Rhymes.
