Fonovisa Executives Plead Innocent
Two executives for Fonovisa — the Latin music label whose roster includes singer
Enrique Iglesias — pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles on Monday to
charges related to illegally paying radio stations to play songs by their artists, according
to the Associated Press. Label president Guillermo Santiso and promotion chief
Jesus Gilberto Moreno eventually plan to plead guilty once the charges are ironed out
with prosecutors, their lawyer was quoted as saying. Moreno is accused of paying radio
stations to play songs by Iglesias and others, while Santiso is accused of evading taxes
on money generated by those payments.
