Aggressive rock group the Jesus Lizard are disbanding amicably to

move on to other projects, manager David Viecelli announced Thursday

(July 1). Pairing abrasive noise with singer David Yow's

blood-curdling rants of emotional pain, the Chicago outfit developed a

reputation for confrontational shows, with Yow spending nearly as much

time in or on top of the audience as onstage. The breakup comes 10 years

to the day after the first of the band's 906 shows. A collection of the

Jesus Lizard's singles and rarities is expected from Touch & Go Records

later this year.
