REO Speedwagon have recorded two new songs for a compilation of the '70s

and '80s pop-rock band's ballads. "We love to rock," singer Kevin Cronin says in

extensive liner notes to The Ballads, due Aug. 3. "We will always rock. But through

the years, another side of our band has become an equally important part of the REO

story." The 13-song CD includes the #1 hits "Keep on Loving You" and "Can't Fight This

Feeling." The new "Just for You," written by Cronin and Jim Peterik of '80s

rockers Survivor, was produced by Peter Asher (Linda

Ronstadt, 10,000 Maniacs, John Wesley Harding).
