Hendrix Guitar Competition Continues

Semifinals for the Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition will take place in six cities
later this summer, according to MCA Records and the Jimi Hendrix Family Foundation,
which co-sponsor the event. The semifinals will be held Aug. 19 in Alexandria, Va.; Aug.
22 in Memphis, Tenn.; Aug. 24 in Tampa, Fla.; Aug. 26 in New Orleans; Aug. 29 in
Phoenix; and Sept. 1 in Los Angeles. Semifinalists will be chosen from submitted
applications — which include a taped cover of a song by the late 1960s guitarist
— from prospective competitors. The finals will be held this fall at an undetermined
location.
