X To Perform In Los Angeles
Punk-rockers X will perform at the House of Blues in Los Angeles
on Friday (June 4) in lieu of former Pogues singer Shane
MacGowan, who canceled his appearance at the Sunset Strip venue.
MacGowan had to call off the first seven dates on his U.S. tour due to
immigration issues, according to his tour booker, Frank Riley. The
canceled shows include the Irish performer's appearance on Saturday's
(June 5) Fleadh Festival in San Francisco and his Portland, Ore., and
Seattle shows with singer/songwriter Joe Henry on Monday and
Tuesday (June 7 and 8); Henry will play those shows solo. MacGowan will
pick up the tour in Chicago on June 12. Last month, Robbie O'Neill, son
of Dublin music promoter Terry O'Neill, was found dead at MacGowan's
home from an apparent drug overdose, according to news reports. Riley
said the canceled shows were unrelated to the incident. All tickets for
MacGowan's show Friday at the House of Blues will be honored for X's
performance, while those who want refunds may seek them at the point of
purchase.
