Devo will reunite to perform Saturday (June 5) at the Santa Monica
(Calif.) Museum of Art as part of the museum's 10th anniversary
celebration, according to the event's manager. The satirical avant-garde
rockers, who emerged from the late-1970s new-wave scene wearing
quasi-futuristic outfits, are best known for the 1980 single "Whip It."
The museum commissioned 10 visual artists to create their own version of
bingo cards, and Devo will incorporate the game into their act. The band
also may appear the same day at the Punk Rock Hall of Fame Awards, held
at the nearby gallery Track 16. That event, honoring Los Angeles punk
vets and scene supporters, will include performances by X and
Black Flag, featuring original singer Keith Morris.
