British rockers the Manic Street Preachers swept the Premier Awards
of U.K. music weekly New Musical Express Monday night, winning
trophies for Best Band, Best Single ("If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be
Next") and Best Album -- for This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, which
remains unreleased in the U.S. Other winners included rock band
Gomez (Best New Band), DJ Fatboy Slim (Best Dance Record,
for "The Rockafeller Skank," and Best Dance Act) and pop singer Robbie
Williams (Best Solo Artist). The winners were chosen by NME
readers; the NME staff gave trip-hoppers Massive Attack the
Godlike Genius Award for Unique Services to Music.
