Mary Guibert, mother of the late singer/songwriter Jeff Buckley, wrote a letter to

her son's friends and fans acknowledging his nomination for a Grammy Award,

according to Buckley's label, Columbia Records. The nomination was in the category of

Best Male Rock Vocal for "Everybody Here Wants You," from the 1998 LP Sketches

for My Sweetheart the Drunk. "Though he may not have fully embraced the concept

of industry awards and didn't campaign to receive nominations," wrote Guibert, "he was

proud of his French award of the Academie Charles Cros Grand Prix du Disque. And I'm

sure he would be extremely gratified that the American recording industry should

recognize his work as being worthy of such a prestigious award as this Grammy

nomination indicates."
