Bluesman John Lee Hooker will pick up the Lifetime Achievement Award at The Rhythm & Blues Foundation's 10th Annual Pioneer Awards ceremony, held Feb. 25 at Sony Studios in Los Angeles. The ceremony also will honor crooner Johnny Adams, session-guitarist and Mickey & Sylvia member Mickey Baker, Motown artist Brenda Holloway, "Hello Stranger" singer-songwriter Barbara Lewis, "You'll Lose A Good Thing" singer/songwriter Barbara Lynn, Enchanters founder Garnet Mimms, "Drowning in the Sea of Love" singer Joe Simon, Drifters members Johnny Moore, Bill Pinkney and Charlie Thomas, "You're No Good" singer Dee Dee Warwick, R&B groups Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles and the Manhattans and the songwriting teams of Ashford & Simpson and David Porter & Isaac Hayes. Hosted by Motown great Smokey Robinson, the ceremony will grant the honorees a total of $260,000 in award money.
