Marilyn Manson: Just Say Boo
Marilyn Manson very nearly had to cancel their Dallas, Texas show a
couple of weeks back, when an irate animal rights activist called in a
bomb threat before their sound check. Police were called and
thoroughly checked out the club, and gave it a clean bill of health
(more than we say about Marilyn Manson). The threat was apparently in
response to their 1994 stop in the Big D. Ezekiel and Jehdeiah, two of
the chickens that they use in their show had somehow gotten loose in
the crowd, and before you knew it, it was Alice Cooper/Ozzie Osbourne
all over again. The band was accused of the ritualistic killings of
their feathered friends, and before you knew it animal rights
activists were cropping up with increasing frequency at Marilyn Manson
shows--but this is the first time any of them have turned violent. The
band has apologized to the various organizations--SPCA, the Humane
Society, and PETA--and want everyone to know that Ezekiel and Jehdeiah
now live on a farm in Florida.
In other Manson news, Smells Like Children, (Is there an echo
in today's news?) their new EP will be released on October 24. Most of
the fifteen songs, have appeared on last year's Portrait Of An
American Family but have been re-recorded and remixed. The new
tracks include a cover of the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams," Patti Smith's
"Rock And Roll Nigger," and Screamin' Jay Hawkin's "I Put A Spell On
You." The perfect gift for your Halloween gift giving. Marilyn and her
Mansons begin recording their next full-length(!) album in December,
after they finish their 70 city tour. The album which will be out in
mid-96 will be titled Antichrist Superstar. Marilyn told ATN
that he wants everyone to know that he thought of the title first. Did
we ever doubt him?
