Porno For Pyros Light Another Unforgettable Fire With 'Good God's Urge'

Perry Farrell and his fellow Porno for Pyros went on an extended vacation

after the Lollapalooza hullabaloo for some surfing and fun in the sun, but

now they're back overseeing the final stages of mixing of their new album

Good God's Urge due out in February 1996. Matt Hyde co-produced three

songs with Farrell, but the remainder Perry produced himself with the help of

his trusty engineer, Mike Johnson. As we reported previously, Porno for Pyros

let their bass player Martyne Lenobel go (although he did play on four of the

album's tracks) and used guest bass players for the rest of the record. The

guests who came to dinner were Mike Watt, David J (Love And Rockets), and

Flea. But one of them seems to have stayed. According to Paul V. at

Cloudbreak Management, the band won't "officially replace Lenobel, " and

instead will use none other than the illustrious Mike Watt as their bass

player when they perform live. Amazing! When badgered, the charming Mr. V.

would not confirm or deny whether Watt would join Porno--which he described

as a roving group of artists. He also revealed that Farrell would not be

doing traditional press for this album, confessing that MTV's Chili Pepper

Weekend put Farrell over the top. Instead Farrell plans to "go the high tech

route" and will probably conduct some on-line press conferences like he did

for Lollapalooza, and put out an electronic press kit. He staunchly refuses

to discuss what his songs are about, and how they came to him--instead

wanting to leave a little mystery for his fans. "Fan's want to get into

Perry' mind and Perry doesn't want them there," says Paul V. Can you blame

him?
