Juliana Hatfield Cancels Tour, Stressed To The Max
The ever-high-strung Juliana Hatfield recently called off her UK tour after
she was taken ill at her New York show at the Eisner Lubin Auditorium on
April 13th. She checked into a hospital in New York City and was later
transferred to a hospital in Boston, the singer's hometown. According to her
label, she didn't collapse at the show, as was reported elsewhere, but fell
ill afterwards because she was suffering from "nervous exhaustion." Other
reports say that a doctor was called to her New York City hotel room a day
prior to the NYC show. However an official spokesman for Hatfield said,
"Juliana was just really, really stressed out. And I want to point out that
she didn't physically collapse at the show. Right now she's working on
managing her anxiety and her stress levels by attending stress-management
classes. She'll reschedule her European dates after she finishes her American
tour." Another label representative informed us that "Due to the
overwhelming work schedule surrounding the release of her latest album,
Only Everything ,and Juliana's consequent exhaustion, she has been
advised by her physicians to postpone her upcoming European tour." The
singer's mother, Julie, who works as a fashion reporter for the Boston
Globe newspaper explained that "Nothing happened after the New York show.
Juliana was just physically exhausted and needed some rest. I have great
confidence that she'll be fine in a while. I've got three kids and I'm used
to being freaked out. It's no harder when your kid is a rock star, either."
We're told that Juliana is up and rested, and raring to start her American
tour with Jeff Buckley beginning on May 19th.
