Five performances by seminal rap-groups such as the Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel will be released by Rhino Home Video on Nov. 17. The tape, entitled Roots of Rap: Sugar Hill Records, features Melle Mel rapping on "Pump Me Up," the Sugarhill Gang performing "8th Wonder" and Grandmaster Flash's hit "It's Nasty." The video coincides with the Oct. 6 release of the The Best of Sugar Hill Records CD compilation.
