A sale of rare guitars formerly belonging to such heroes of the six-string as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton netted thousands of dollars at a London auction, according to an Associated Press report.

A Gibson Sunburst guitar once wielded by Hendrix on the album Axis: Bold As Love brought in a whopping $32,600, which was still only half of the anticipated price, according to the report.

Former Cream guitarist Clapton's semi-acoustic guitar commanded an $8,000 price tag.

Other objects sold at the auction included a pair of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell's platform boots, which sold for the princely sum of $1,800.
