Jhené Aiko Is A Low-Key Freak On Her New Song

She’ll make you fall in love with a ‘Maniac’

Jhené Aiko had one of the most quotable lyrics of 2014 when she sang about dudes “eating the booty like groceries” on Omarion’s “Post to Be.” Now, however, the R&B songstress has managed to top that raunchiness on her new single, “Maniac.”

“Do you want to fuck with a maniac? / Make you fall in love with a maniac,” Aiko sing-raps, sultrily flexing her sex skills over a bouncy beat. (Are your ears burning, Big Sean?) If you didn’t already know she’s a “low-key freak,” you certainly do now.

Aiko told Billboard that “Maniac” is part of an art project that involves her being tied up in rope, as seen in video clips on Instagram. For the project, she said she worked with a master in shibari, a Japanese art form of rope bondage.

“They do it for sensual purposes too, but it’s a true art form,” she said. “I have this kinky spirit sometimes. If something looks a little painful, then I’m like ‘Yeah, I wanna try that.’”

“Maniac” is the presumed lead single from Aiko’s upcoming sophomore album, the follow-up to 2014’s Souled Out. The release comes just days after her boo, Big Sean, teased they’d be dropping a sequel to their Twenty88 collaborative project next year.
