Charli XCX And Rostam Reunite For A Spacey New Song

Get lost in their ’80s-inspired ‘Deadstream’ remix

Charli XCX recently dropped “After the Afterparty,” the deliriously poppy first single from her upcoming third album. But before that pop-minded project arrives, she’s getting in tune with her experimental side on a new collaboration with Rostam Batmanglij.

The pop star and former Vampire Weekend member have cooked up musical magic before — he produced “Need Ur Luv,” a standout from Charli’s 2014 breakthrough album, Sucker. Now they’ve reunited for a remix of “Deadstream,” a recent single from electronic producer Jim E-Stack. The reworked version premiered on Beats 1 this afternoon (November 8) and finds Charli and Rostam trading lovelorn verses over a spaced-out groove.

“Why do I have to let you go?” they wonder over a flurry of ’80s-inspired synths and snare drums. Consider this a song for the comedown — for after the after-afterparty.
