Justin Bieber songs and dramatic readings are an unbeatable combo (see exhibits A, B, and C). Kendall Jenner knows this. Gigi Hadid, apparently, does not.

The model BFFs were asked to recite JB’s breakthrough hit, “Baby,” in a video for W magazine’s lyrical improv series with Lynn Hirschberg. It’s even right there in the video’s title: “Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Dramatically Reading ‘Baby’ By Justin Bieber.” The only problem? Only Kendall seemed to get the memo; her serious and somber delivery is about as theatrical as it gets. Gigi’s contribution, on the other hand, is more “glam American Idol audition” than anything else; she basically belts the whole thing karaoke-style.

Different as their approaches were, however, their renditions are sure to make their pal Bieber proud. Even if they didn’t tackle that kooky Ludacris verse.
