Miley Cyrus's first-ever relationship wasn't with who you think.

Even though she paired off with Nick Jonas when she was just 13 years old, a new interview with Variety reveals that he wasn't exactly her first partner.

Cyrus opened up about her gender and sexuality in the interview, saying that she's always felt like her identity was a little outside the box.

"My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality," she said. "My eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade."

That's when she started dating — and the first person she ever dated was a girl. "My first relationship in my life was with a chick," Cyrus revealed.

Now, at age 23, Cyrus doesn't identify as straight, lesbian, or bisexual. "I think the LGBTQ alphabet could continue forever. But there’s a 'P' that should happen, for 'pansexual,'" she explained.

That means she's attracted to anyone regardless of gender identity. As for her own identity, Cyrus says she's somewhere in between: "I never related to loving being a girl. And then, being a boy didn’t sound fun to me," she said. "Even though I may seem very different, people may not see me as neutral as I feel. But I feel very neutral."
