Drake May Not Perform Again Until 2017

His Summer Sixteen tour has come to a screeching end

What a day to be a Drake fan. First there was the exciting news that he racked up a record 13 AMA nominations, but now, the rapper’s Summer Sixteen tour has come to an abrupt end.

Following news last week that he was postponing three shows because of a “severe” ankle injury, the remainder of Drake's North American tour will be canceled as well. All in all, a total of six scheduled shows — one in his native Toronto, one in Philadelphia, two in Brooklyn, and two in Newark, New Jersey — will not go on as planned. This also means he has no publicly announced shows slated for the remainder of 2016.

A rep for Drake told People, “Drake suffered a severe ankle injury during the tour which he did his best to power through. By doing this, he made his injury worse. Under doctors’ orders and to ensure Drake only ever gives fans the performances they deserve, he will be postponing the remaining three dates of his Summer Sixteen tour to allow him time to recuperate his ankle injury. Drake’s fans mean the world to him. Seeing their faces and performing his music for them is what he loves to do the most and he can’t wait to get back on stage.”

News of the canceled shows comes just hours after Drake announced the Boy Meets World tour, a 26-show run through Europe, scheduled for January through mid-March of next year.

Feel better soon, Drizzy!
