The Institute is on lockdown when Shadowhunters returns for its second season — but our feisty protagonist isn’t going to sit around and do nothing while her friend, and maybe brother, is still out there.
In our exclusive clip from the Season 2 premiere of Shadowhunters (which just debuted at New York Comic Con), the team learns that the Institute is under new management after Hodge’s betrayal. With Valentine and The Circle causing a major upheaval in the Shadow World, the Clave puts the Institute on lockdown, which means no one’s allowed in or out. That doesn’t sit well with Clary, who’s worried for Jace. He’s still MIA and most likely under Valentine’s control.
Izzy tells Clary that Jace is more than capable of taking care of himself, but the final few seconds of this clip have us worried for what’s to come for our favorite broody Shadowhunter. Sure, Jace is tough, but he’s not indestructible. Will Valentine and The Circle break him? Or will Jace find his way back to his friends? We’ll have to wait and see when Season 2 premieres on January 2, 2017.
Also announced during Saturday’s NYCC panel (with a very special video), Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley will be directing an upcoming episode of Shadowhunters. Wesley teased his new gig with his signature brand of satire, joking that he has a lot to learn about vampires and werewolves.
Honestly, it’s a good thing Wesley knows all about the Downworlder lifestyle. Get ready for a darker, sexier Shadowhunters.
