Poussey Is Now Engaged To An 'Orange Is The New Black' Writer

A real-life love story from Litchfield

Samira Wiley isn’t leaving the Orange Is the New Black family. Well, not really. On Tuesday, October 4, Wiley announced via Instagram that she’s tying the knot with her longtime girlfriend, Lauren Morelli, a writer for the series. They both shared the same beaming photo.

After Poussey’s — spoiler! — tragic departure at the end of Season 4 last June, this is happy news for fans. The couple first met on the set of OITNB, and back in 2014, Morelli wrote a touching essay for Mic about realizing she was gay, divorcing her then-husband, and falling for Wiley.

“I went through it all on set: I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen,” she wrote, referring to early scenes and sexual tension between exes Piper Chapman and Alex Vause. “And now, as we are gearing up for the release of Season 2, it feels liberating and appropriate to live my life in front of you.”

“Something blue” may be the traditional good luck charm for a bride-to-be, but it looks like orange was the magical color for this relationship.
