Playlist: Solange’s Table
Hear the collaborators and inspirations for her new album
This past Friday, Solange released her third album, A Seat at the Table, a gorgeous 21-track record. Inspired by the town of New Iberia, Louisiana, and the music of jazz and neo-soul artists like D’Angelo and Alice Coltrane, A Seat at the Table is also by far Solange’s most collaborative album. Throughout she pulls in singers like Tweet, Sampha, The-Dream, and Kelela, as well as producers like Dirty Projectors’ David Longstreth, Chairlift’s Patrick Wimberly, and Rostam Batmanglij (just to name a few!).
Here we’ve compiled a list of all the collaborators on A Seat at the Table, as well as Solange’s influences, from Lauryn Hill’s Unplugged sessions to the cosmic psychedelia of Sun Ra.
