Chris Brown Released From Jail On $250,000 Bail

The singer was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon

Following his arrest Tuesday night (August 30), Chris Brown has been released from jail in Los Angeles County after posting $250,000 bail.

Brown was arrested after a 14-hour period in which police surrounded his L.A. home while waiting for a search warrant.

Police responded to a 911 call early Tuesday morning from a woman who said that Brown had threatened her with a firearm. The woman, actress and 2016 Miss California Regional Baylee Curran, has since spoken publicly about her alleged encounter with the singer.

Curran said that she was admiring a piece of diamond jewelry in Brown’s kitchen when the singer and his friends demanded that she leave the house. “Chris Brown kind of went off, pulled out a gun and said, ‘Get the fuck out,’” she said in an interview with E! News. “He was saying, ‘Get the fuck out! Haven’t I told you guys enough?’ And kind of threatening me with the gun, like if I didn’t get out he’s going to shoot me with it.”

Allegedly, Brown tried to get Curran to sign a nondisclosure agreement before she left the house. She said she refused to sign and instead ran from the house and hid under a truck.

Curran said that she had spent time with Brown “several times before” the alleged incident, but that he had never threatened her before.

Though Brown had posted three Instagram videos from his home while police were waiting for a warrant, he has since deleted them. Early Wednesday morning (August 31), he published a video of Ray J (who was said to be at Brown’s home the night of the alleged incident) voicing a message of support. Bruno Mars and Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, have also tweeted in support of Brown.
