Put down those Christmas lights: Stranger Things has officially been renewed for Season 2. (And here we thought we’d have to start making blood sacrifices to the Demogorgon.)

Netflix announced that the second season of its wildly popular ’80s nostalgia–fueled series will premiere sometime in 2017 and that creators/writers Matt and Ross Duffer will return to helm the season. So far, nine episodes have been confirmed for Season 2. Not only do we get a Season 2, but we get one more glorious hour too!

In a short teaser for the second season, it’s revealed that Stranger Things will pick up in “the fall of 1984.” Seeing as Season 1 ended in the winter of 1983, nearly a year will have passed for Will Byers and his friends when Season 2 premieres. Of course, this has always been part of the Duffer Brothers’ plan. They’ve likened their approach to the Harry Potter series, in which each season will take place a full year after the start of the previous season.

“I love watching kids growing up on camera,” Matt Duffer told EW. “So the idea seeing where these kids and these characters are one year later is cool to me. And it allows us to explore the mythology of our nether.”

Stranger Things, which chronicles an interdimensional portal called the Upside Down that opens up in a sleepy Midwestern town, features a handful of young talent, including scene-stealer Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), and Noah Schnapp (who plays the show’s own slug-spitting Boy Who Lived, Will). And the idea of watching them grow up on-screen makes us happier than Eleven with a box of Eggo waffles.

While we couldn’t be more excited to catch up with Eleven, Nancy, and Hopper in Season 2, we just have one very important question: WHAT ABOUT BARB?
