Chance the Rapper turned heads on the white carpet at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards with his tan overalls. While the Best Hip-Hop Video nominee goofed off and actually managed to make overalls not dorky, people on Twitter quickly noticed that Chance’s outfit made him look like Mario and Luigi’s long-lost brother from Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the rapper’s been compared to the iconic video-game plumber. As far back as August 2014, Chance channeled Mario himself. Seriously, where was Chance in the ’90s when overalls were taking over the world?
