Nick Cannon Is Bringing One Aspect Of His 'Drumline' Character To Life

And it looks like his Atlanta A&T bandleader has something to say about it

Nick Cannon is apparently one of the many students who will be cracking books, sharpening pencils, and breaking out a brand new backpack at the beginning of the 2016 school year. The only difference between Cannon and the majority of incoming freshmen? He’s played the part before.

The Wild ’n Out and Wild ’n On Tour host announced that he’s enrolling at Howard University, and posted a first day of school picture from the school’s Washington, D.C., campus. Cannon’s matriculation status is unknown — i.e., whether or not he’s taking a couple of classes, or is enrolled part-time — but regardless, he seems absolutely thrilled to be there.

As XXL reports, it was only a matter of time before Drumline comparisons were popping up on social media. Cannon starred in the 2002 flick about a freshman whose rebellious ways took the fictional Atlanta A&T University marching band by storm. As this is Cannon’s first foray into higher education — much like it was for Devon Miles, the character he played in Drumline — Twitter had a field day with it.

His Drumline costar Orlando Jones got in on the good humor, too:

No word yet as to whether or not Cannon plans on trying out for Howard’s marching band.
