As we gear up for the new season of American Horror Story next month, we still have zero clue about its theme. The AHS gurus have been tricking us by providing false clues, which makes us want to hiss “lies” à la Madame LaLaurie.

Thankfully, there are people like Scottish filmmaker Stephen Coll, who has distracted us with a truly incredible creation: a (just over) two-minute video showcasing all the series’s various movie influences. Even AHS cinematographer and director Michael Goi has given his approval.

We already knew that Freak Show paid homage to the 1932 classic horror film Freaks, but what about lesser known tributes? Coll does a side-by-side comparison of all the famous works — not all of them horror tales — with its AHS counterpart. Check it out below.
