Based on the untold true stories of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), Hidden Figures follows them as they overcome both gender and racial prejudices to revolutionize the NASA space program and help launch the first man into space. The trailer, which debuted during NBC’s Olympics coverage on Sunday night, is a splendid mix of humor and emotional gravitas, especially from its three female leads.
