Charli XCX Wrote And Directed This Badass New Music Video

RAYE’s ‘I, U, Us’ is the unapologetically cheery breakup song you need

It’s easy to forget, but Charli XCX’s breakthrough came as a songwriter, first with Icona Pop’s smash “I Love It," and later with hits for Ryn Weaver, Selena Gomez, and Iggy Azalea. While the spunky pop star is currently hard at work on her third album, she’s found time to return to her songwriting roots for “I, U, Us," a new track from British R&B singer RAYE.

Cowriting the unapologetically cheery breakup song apparently wasn’t enough for Charli, so she also helmed its accompanying video, which marks her directorial debut. In it, RAYE and her squad turn an abandoned ice rink into their personal turn-up playground. The song is quintessential Charli, with plenty of layered vocals and glitchy synths, but RAYE’s distinct style and attitude make it fresh as hell and entirely her own.
