A New 'Rogue One' Trailer Will Blast Off During The Olympics Broadcast

A fresh look and more details for the ‘Star Wars’ prequel are coming

If you’re a Star Wars fan and you weren’t planning on tuning in to the Olympics this week, you should probably rethink that.

Thanks to the eagle eye of a viewer watching the games in Rio, a sneak preview of the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer showed that a longer look will air on NBC in between sporting events on Thursday, August 11.

As Entertainment Weekly reports, this wasn’t a fluke or some weird promo stunt on behalf of the Olympics. Lucasfilm confirmed the air date of the trailer as well. This sneak peek follows the initial trailer, which came out in April, and the release of several key details regarding the plot of the film, the various characters we’ll meet (or meet again) in its action-packed universe, and exactly how it fits into the big Star Wars picture.

This may technically be a trailer-for-a-trailer, but hey: It’s a new look at the latest addition to the Star Wars anthology, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 16, 2016. No word yet as to whether or not Leslie Jones will offer her commentary on the forthcoming intergalactic clip.
