'Rugrats' Creator Finally Responds To That Horrific Fan Theory

Are the babies really all dead?

When Rugrats fans joined Tumblr, things got way too ~deep~ for children's TV. Take this widely circulated fan theory, which posits that the babies are actually Angelica Pickles's imaginary friends.

Variations of this post suggest that Susie Carmichael and Dill Pickles are the only two real kids in Angelica's life. Susie goes along with Angelica's hallucinations, while Dill is too young to speak — explaining why he's the only infant who can't talk in the series. How horrifying, right? Fortunately, it's not true. One of the creators of Rugrats, Arlene Klasky, debunked this myth at San Diego Comic-Con, telling BuzzFeed, "A lot of people believe that conspiracy theory and no, it's not true."

Klasky, who created the series with Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, still finds herself comforting fans who've read the traumatic theory. "I have to console the kids online," she continued.

So all is fine in the playpen, Rugrats fans. Take your bizarre fan theories to some other Nick show. Perhaps iCarly?
