Justin Bieber Is Sliding Into Fans’ DMs For A Very Cool Reason

He'll jump into cold, cold water for you

As the hype for Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water” — a collaboration with Major Lazer and “Lean On” singer MØ — reaches its boiling point, the sneaky singer has begun direct-messaging lyrics to his fans.

Beginning Wednesday night (July 20), a lucky few of his 85 million followers who tweeted the #ColdWater2Days hashtag were gifted with a message from JB himself. Ever the crafty detectives, Beliebers soon figured out the messages were lyrics from “Cold Water.” (This isn’t the first time Bieber’s dropped surprise lyric puzzles — last August, he also slid into fans’ DMs to reveal the words to “What Do You Mean?”.)

Judging by the lines fans have shared thus far, “Cold Water” appears to be a thoughtful, introspective tune: “Everybody gets high sometimes, ya know / 'Cause we all get lost sometimes, you know/ It’s how we learn and how we grow / You shouldn’t be fighting on your own.”

Bieber also shared a GIF of himself jumping into water with a caption that likely pulls from more of the song’s lyrics: “If you feel you’re sinking, I will jump right over, into cold, cold water for you.”

“Cold Water” — which was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco — is set to drop at midnight Friday.
