Against Me! Grapple With Love And Fear On New Song ‘333’

The band also announced a new album, ‘Shape Shift With Me’

Against Me! are back and gearing up for a jam-packed second half of the year.

Not only will singer Laura Jane Grace release her memoir, Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, this fall, but the band will also release its seventh studio album. Shape Shift With Me, the follow-up to 2014’s stellar Transgender Dysmorphia Blues, drops September 16 via Against Me!'s own label, Total Treble.

Along with announcing that exciting news on Monday, the Floridian rockers also shared the project’s lead single, “333.” The guitar-heavy track finds Grace grappling with intimacy and fear over clashing cymbals as she shouts, “All the devils that you don’t know can all come along for the ride / I want to be as close as I can get to you.”

In a press release via Rolling Stone, Shape Shift With Me is described as a “loose concept album about traveling the world and falling in and out of love, with Grace serving as the narrator.”

Grace says of the album, “There’s been an infinite amount of records talking about what love means from a cisgender perspective. I wanted to present the trans perspective on sex, love and heartbreak.”

Against Me! will also embark on a North American and European tour to close out the year, starting September 14.
