Orlando Survivors And YouTube Stars Join ‘Hands’ In Orlando Tribute Video

The star-studded song gets a moving lyric video on the one-month anniversary of the massacre

Exactly one month after the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, survivors of the attack and YouTube celebrities are paying tribute to the 49 lives lost.

Last week saw the release of “Hands,” a star-studded charity single released as a joint effort between GLAAD and Interscope Records, and featuring Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, and P!nk, just to name a few. On Tuesday, a touching new lyric video for the song was released, featuring three survivors of the shooting: Patience Carter, Tiara Parker, and Angel Anthony Santiago.

Several social and digital personalities also appear throughout the video with the lyrics written on their hands, including Rebecca Black, Gigi Gorgeous, Connor Franta, Sam Tsui, and Pentatonix’s Scott Hoying and Mitchell Grassi. RuPaul and Empire’s Jussie Smollett also appear in footage from the song’s recording sessions.

The video ends with a plea for love and a call to action: “Believe in a world without walls & accept that together we are better. Doesn’t matter who you are or who you love. Accelerate acceptance & end hate.”

Profits from the sale of “Hands” (available here) are set to benefit Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, and GLAAD.
